Something I need to know..

let's pretend I used samurai fruit sample code.
Changed the background picture, fruits to animmals, juice squirting out to cloud....

Can I publish the game then on the Android market or is still copyright?

Thanks
Wahid

you can do it... :)

Ok thanks you so much for quick reply :)

As Renjith said it's not copyright, you can do that - although you must also change the sounds.

However keep in mind that if you publish that sample (with new images, sounds, etc.) that as it is only an example it will make a terrible game and people will not be very impressed.

I was thinking of doing that but changing it and adding scores and openfient. hmm =/
I'm not really good in coding. I've only created a few apps on Android Eclipse.

One day I'll be good.. Knowledge is for free !
lol

Thanks

Hey Wahid,

My advice is to learn a little more about Corona/Lua first - then you could make an awesome game using that sample quite easily.

You don't have to listen to me, but I would encourage you to; I have a fair bit of experience ;)

Best of luck,
Peach

yeah. using tutorials without adding something original is kinda lame :)

Ok hmm... When you say... "little more about Corona/Lua first".

Is:
1.) http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/
2.) http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Arithmetic_in_Lua
3.) http://lua.gts-stolberg.de/en/index.php?uml=1
4.) http://developer.anscamobile.com/resources/docs

Good links to start with and which one is the best..? Cause at the moment I'm using the 1.) and 3.) links to learn LUA/CORONA?

"You don't have to listen to me, but I would encourage you to; I have a fair bit of experience ;)"
I'm doing whatever it takes to learn this language! I'm so into Corona SDK, I always check out new things that are added.
Especially love this article
"http://blog.anscamobile.com/2011/08/dabble-now-available-on-ipad/" AMAZING!

"yeah. using tutorials without adding something original is kinda lame :)"

LOL I'm not using the sample but I just wanted to make things clear "what's allowed and what's not allowed"

EDIT:
ALSO
I just bought the book
"Programming in Lua, Second Edition"
and downloaded the PDF version of Lua manual 5.1 from www.lua.org/manual/5.1/ .... is that a good book ? Which do you prefer easier/better "Manual 5.1 or Second Edition"... ?
Thanks
Wahid

Hey Wahid,

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were necessarily going to just publish it with new images - it is just many people do so I thought it was worth mentioning. (Others will see this thread who have similar questions.)

I can't comment on those resources as I didn't use any to learn myself, but hopefully someone else will know :)

Peach

@whitestarand yes, you can learn a lot about lua with the links you posted. especially lua syntax.

But corona sdk uses some different api calls that are mobile-platform-specific. I recommend you work through the samples, shared codes and programming-related blog posts to learn all the stuff that makes corona so powerful. I also recommend to begin your first project easy... I recently wrote an article about how to begin making games: http://ios-blog.co.uk/resources/games-and-carrots/

I had my first playable prototype finished on day 2, by the way - and so I subscribed a week later. LUA is just so freakin' simple and easy compared to obj-C, it kinda hurts me that I was struggling with obj-C for two years before I found out about corona sdk...

so. yeah... learn from the samples but make your own games!

Thanks man. Your post is really helpful.
Really appreciate it. I'll check out your post.

Thanks again
