Teddy Pairs Matching Game

Really chuffed now. After a lot of tinkering with code, graphics and sound I've finally published our Teddy Pairs matching game app featuring 8 levels. Submitted it to Apple two days ago and already they've approved it and put it on the apps store. Fantastic! Corona made it fairly easy for me to port this AS3 game I created to Lua and it seems to work really well. Should keep purchasers entertained for a while.

By the way many thanks to Carlos and the team for their help with the sound issues I was having.

Cheers guys,

Nick

We've just put up a fun video demonstrating our Teddy Pairs app in action. Check it out at:

Just updated Teddy Pairs app so that it automatically scales when running on an iPad.

Nice video and looks like a fun app. How did you do the animations in the video -- flash?

Tom

Hi Tom,

Cheers for the great comments.

We did the Teddy Pairs characters and animations using Blender, a free 3D modelling and animation tool, then I stuck the exported movies into After Effects and screen grabbed a movie of Teddy Pairs being played in the Corona simulator. Edited it using AE/ iMovie/GarageBand/Quicktime. Music is licensed from an audio library, Audio Network, which has a vast library of music and mixes and on the plus side is really cheap for usage on YouTube vids.

Hope to do some more apps. This was my first play with Corona and Lua to see what it could do, so just started with something fun to play around with. If you get it, hope you enjoy it.

Nick

How well did it do in the app store?

Slow so far, can't give up the day job yet lol But then I haven't really promoted it apart from the YouTube vid!

**Update** Having said that above seems to be steady sales, not high volume, but it does seem to be increasing. Think I should add some update features like a timer challenge, option to choose other pairs etc. Also got to think about doing new apps using the Game Edition physics engine!

Did add an iPad scaling update, but I'll guess I'll have to buy an iPad to get it listed as iPad and iPhone app on Apps Store unless you can do this using Corona simulator. Wonder if it's best to build app with resized graphics for iPad and then scale them down to fit iPhone/iTouch screen size. Good fun learning anyway!!
