Pest Fest - The first videogame from El Salvador!

Hello fellow Corona users!

It is my pleasure to announce that our company, Mindblock, has released Pest Fest for iOS - the first commercial video game from El Salvador, and of course, it was made with Corona SDK!!

Hordes of mosquitoes are literally sucking the life out of your cuddlebunny, and it is your job to stop them! You have at your disposal weapons of mass destruction such as pillows and electric racquets, but your most effective measure against them is of course your very own pair of slappy little mitts!

But be careful... your heroic task should not interrupt the sleep of huggybee!! The consequences might be ...dire.

The trailer for Pest Fest can be found here:

And the game itself can be found in the iTunes Store at:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pest-fest/id418369943?mt=8

With colorful graphics and a lighthearted, humorous theme, we are sure Pest Fest will entertain everybody, specially those who know how it feels when a mosquito bites you and goes away unpunished!

Pest Fest supports Openfeint leaderboards and achievements, so you can compare your scores against those of your friends or people around the globe! We will be constantly adding more zany enemies and fun gameplay modes, and we hope to bring the joy and satisfaction of taking revenge on mosquitoes to people all over the world!

looks very good

Thanks!

We worked really hard on the art style and technical stuff of the game! Glad you like it!

We´ll continue pushing the engine as far as it can go!

What fantastic art work! Congratulations on your app.

Peach :)

Thanks Peach!

Our artist feels all giddy now! We are really thankful that we found Corona... we were developing in Flash for iOS before, and performance was a nightmare, so we had to really cut back on our art assets...

Actually, here you can see some snippets of how our game looked like before hehehehehe:

well done mate, congrats!

Impressive! Congratulations!

You managed to implement some nice effects in the game. Do you mind sharing some tips on how you made them? Especially the effects that take to whole screen. I've tried but got lot of memory problems trying to load big images.

Once again congratulations!

@Dingo: Thanks for your comments!

@cleversons: Thanks! I've asked our programmer to do a little explanation on how to do those effects.

We'll post on the Game Developers subsection and notify you when we do!

Plus, we'll place a couple of promo codes there so others can see the effects too if they so wish, to accompany the code!

Great! Thanks a lot!

A well made video but certainly, not as nice overall artwork ;)

Peach :)

Hahahaha my teammates still like that trailer better because they got to pillow bomb me in the face.

Maybe we'll have to make a second version that combines the best of both worlds, the new Pest Fest AND more physical abuse to the devs :p

Did you re-skin the game and release again? the game looks quite different from the old video. Or did you revamp the entire game?

Hello aaaron!

The game, although unchanged in its very basics, is a complete overhaul from the old one.

The first one we did with Adobe Air for iOS, back at the beginning of the year. I think the basic idea of the game was solid, but we were very limited with everything else. It didn't allow for retina display, Openfeint-like services, and performance was severely limited. Full screen effects were completely out of the question.

Since the new version is in Corona, we had to redo the game from scratch, but after we had made a straight port of the game, we saw that we had performance to spare, so we added all the stuff that we couldn't put in before. We also connected it to openfeint, which was extremely important for us due to the kind of game that we made!

So yeah, I would definitely consider it a full revamp, even if it shares the same theme as the first one.

Cleversons, the post with some tips is in the Game Development section, along with a few promo codes!

San Salvador?

:-)

Felicidades. Y gracias por usar Corona.

Carlos

Hola Carlos,

Espero ver tu proximo juego pronto.

Saludes

Carlos.

En verdad es pequeño el mundo!

Si alguna vez decides visitar el país de regreso, sería un gusto conocerte!
